Preparedness is not about foreseeing disasters, but about empowering lives with the courage and skills to face them. On 18th September 2025, officials from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a Disaster Management and Safety Programme to train students in vital survival skills and emergency preparedness. The workshop began with demonstrations of life saving skills like CPR techniques, emphasizing the importance of quick action within the first 10 minutes of a cardiac emergency. Students also learned first aid measures such as treating open wounds with direct pressure and elevation, immobilizing arm and shoulder injuries, and checking vital signs effectively. To build disaster readiness, safety drills for earthquakes, fires, and floods were introduced. Students practiced protective measures like covering the head under a desk, the “Stop, Drop, and Roll” technique, recovery position for unconscious persons, and the correct use of life jackets. They were also shown how to prepare improvised stretchers for shifting injured individuals. The programme not only provided practical exposure but also instilled confidence, presence of mind, and responsibility among students to safeguard themselves and assist others during emergencies.
